barca velha 2008

Description

Considered the epitome, the very top pinnacle, the undisputed symbol of the highest quality of Douro wines. Classic, intense, complex, elegant - are the adjectives that describe what has been, since its creation in 1952, the most celebrated Portuguese wine. The Barca Velha is the base on which the reputation of Casa Ferreirinha has grown, the last one that is the mark of quality with the highest tradition of the Douro and one of its main world guides. Barca Velha is declared only in really exceptional years.

Although ready to consume at the time of its presentation, Barca Velha 2008 has a long guarding potential and evolves positively in a bottle that should be kept lying down. The apogee? Maybe 15-20 years after harvest, but it is expected to remain "alive" for a period that is still undetermined.

Wine mysterious and full of emotions, Barca Velha invites to the selection of a discreet and refined environment, as well as the choice of company with whom this revealing ritual will be shared. Savouring a Barca Velha requires a careful preparation according to the exigency of the moment. Ideally, the bottle should be placed "up" the day before and opened 2 to 3 hours before serving. With so many bottle years, the wine should be carefully decanted to separate its natural sediment.

Batuta 2015 RED

Description

The grapes to produce this wine come from Quinta do Carril, a vineyard with more than 70 years facing north and old vineyards about 100 years old, near the Quinta de Nápoles. The Batuta is the result of a delicate winemaking, with prolonged, but with little extraction, where all the details are carefully considered to obtain a complex, fine and elegant wine. It is full of concentration, own of the old vineyards of the Douro, but simultaneously fresh and delicate.

charme 2016 RED

Description

Charme is a rare Douro wine. Its elegance and complexity, its soft and enveloping tannins, are a unique way of expressing the old, coolest and sheltered vineyards of Vale de Mendiz, in the middle of the Pinhão valley. Dirk Niepoort has in Charme his final interpretation and denounced passion for the region of Burgundy. A signature wine.

chryseia 2015

Description

In November 1998, the Symington family proposed to Bruno Prats the participation in a new project, which consisted in producing a large, non-fortified wine in the Douro. This was achieved in 1999 with the creation of Prats & Symington Ltd. as an equitable partnership between the two families. Some experimental vinifications in this first year allowed to define and to choose the best plots and the most suitable varieties for the project. Chryseia 2000 was the first crop to be marketed.

From the harvest of 2015 was born a powerful wine, concentrated and dense and strong Douro personality, balanced with a trace of freshness and minerality, thus allowing a good test. The fine and elegant tannins stand out.

legado 2013 RED

Description

Legado 2013, which comes to the market in its sixth edition, consolidates the status of an admittedly different wine, fruit of the desire to perpetuate the best tradition through a simple homage given to a century-old vineyard of rare beauty located on the banks of the Ribeira do Caêdo, upstream of the Pinhão, where the Douro expresses itself in fullness.

Legado is a wine from the Quinta da Leda wine cellar in the Upper Douro and finished in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia, where he worked for two years in new French oak barrels, Legado 2013 reveals, according to Luís Sottomayor, "a red wine of great complexity and enormous class, dignifying the vineyard that saw it born."

casa ferreirinha 2009 SPECIAL RESERVE

Description

Casa Ferreirinha and its wines are synonymous with time and art. This is the case since its foundation in the eighteenth century by the hand of Bernardo Ferreira, who saw the formula refined by the descendants, especially by his granddaughter Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, who affectionately became known as "Ferreirinha" or "Ferreirinha-da-Régua" by the people of his land. At the hands of Dona Antónia, who twice was widowed at the head of a large company, Ferreira consolidated in an admirable way. Her entrepreneurial spirit taught her to anticipate, decide, create, teach and love, making her a figure of great projection and charisma.

Quinta do crasto vinha da ponte 2014

Description

Located in the margins on the right of Douro river, between Régua and Pinhão, Quinta do Crasto, is a property with about 130 hectares, of which 70 are occupied by vineyards. Quinta do Querindelo, with 10 hectares of Vinha Velha, and Quinta da Cabreira in the Upper Douro, with 114 hectares of vineyard, are also part of the company's assets. With a privileged location in the Douro Demarcated Region, Quinta do Crasto has been owned by the family of Leonor and Jorge Roquette for more than a century. As is often the case with the large Quintas do Douro, the origin of Quinta do Crasto dates back to far-off times - the name Crasto is derived from the Latin "castrum" meaning strong Roman.

Xisto Roquette & Cazes 2013

Description

The Xisto Roquette & Cazes wine is made from grapes of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz varieties, added to other native varieties from old vines. The vineyards are set in terraces and traditional vineyard terraces. All grapes from the Xisto-Roquette & Cazes wine are harvested manually and come exclusively from the Cima Corgo sub-region and the Upper Douro sub-region. All the grapes were stalked and transferred to fermentation vats in frustoconical format, where they started the alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature. During the fermentation process the French technique of délestage was used, which aims to increase the surface of skin contact at the moment when the must / wine is leached over the masses (hat). As a result a concentrated and complex wine is obtained, which respects the elegance and escapes the rusticity.
